There has been a continuing “war” between Social Media & Search Engine Optimization and to be honest and realistic, Social Media is more and more becoming extremely important for any internet marketer or webmaster. This can be seen from different points of views however I would like to analyze and give you my personal opinion on why social media is getting so popular and will outrank in the coming years completely search engine optimization

The scope behind Social Media is quite obvious, interaction among different people and sharing information in real time. On the other side Search Engine Optimization is a longer process which actually takes months or even years to build baclinks and rank on top of search engines

Let us see the advantages and disadvantages of Social Media vs SEO

Advantages of Social Media

Your Word Goes Viral (Twitter , Facebook , Reddit , Digg , StumbleUpon etc)

Traffic starts coming to your site at the moment you tweet, post an update, submit it on digg or any other social bookmarking website)

Inexpensive and can be easily done with a couple of basic Internet skills

Advantages of Search Engine Optimization

Long Term & Highly Profitable (If done right)

More formal & professional

Can’t be easily done (this is an advantage for the ones who know SEO)

Do any search on Google regarding a problem you have or a “how to” question, you will see that Yahoo Answers is almost on TOP of every other website, this shows once more the supremacy of social media sites

With the actual changes on Google where they are showing real time discussions from Twitter, it is doubtful whether you can actually outrank high authority social sites such as Digg , Twitter , Facebook and much more plus another factor which actually affects directly search engine optimizers is the fact that Google algorithm is changing frequently and who knows, in the future the actual tactics might not even work anymore

What are your thoughts on this topic? Are you doing SEO or Social Media ? If both, from which type of marketing are you getting the most traffic from ? Please comment below

Facebook, the strongest ever virus which has infected more than 500 million people! Much more poisonous than swine flu or chicken flu. Seems it has turned into a syndrome, an infection where if you get inside it will be impossible to quit. Anyway this article is not for the brainwashing of people using Facebook (and playing senseless games for 5-7 hours straight) but for another interesting fact I “discovered” while surfing over at Alexa

Alexa is an Amazon site which deals with statistics and analysis of millions of websites

If you check the TOP 500 Global Sites in the world, you are going to see that the most visited websites are Google, Facebook & Yahoo. Actually what amazed me was the title of the Facebook listing which is something like “Facebook, the next Friendster” Check the image below for a solid proof

If you actually see Facebook’s page over at Alexa you will see the following description:

Now wait a minute? Is that an error or it was done on purpose? I check Alexa standings frequently so that was not there like 7-8 days ago

Don’t you think is a bit interesting, Facebook the next Friendster? Friendster is another social networking site but not as big as Facebook so whats the purpose of comparing Facebook with Friendster

Let us see what the big guys (press) will say about this and I don’t believe its a “glitch” or a bug in the system

EDIT: Ironically they have fixed the bug in less than 12 hours, congratulations for your due diligence

Nowadays, with internet access everywhere and with huge sites such as YouTube, anyone, with a talent or not can become a celebrity. There are many well known cases where actually simple users of YouTube have uploaded their randoms videos and those videos have gone viral and have attracted millions of views. Due to its nature, YouTube has more than 100 million visitors per day and building a fan base is simple enough. Let us see some of the YouTube celebrities who know have contracts with the biggest media corporations in the United States:

Amanda Baggs

January 2007 she published a video on YouTube describing her experience as an autistic person entitled In My Language which became the subject of several articles on CNN She also guest-blogged about her video on Anderson Cooper’s blog and answered questions from the audience via email.
Watch Amanda’s Baggs In My Language Video | Amandas Baggs Wikipedia |

Amber Lee Ettinger (aka Obama Girl)

Ettinger appeared in the “I Got a Crush… on Obama” viral video, which was posted by Barely Political to YouTube in June 2007. Later, she appeared in a new video called “Hillary! Stop the attacks! Love, Obama Girl” released on March 25, 2008. On May 7, 2008, Barely Political posted a YouTube video with Ettinger and former Democratic and Libertarian Party presidential candidate Mike Gravel, entitled “Mike Gravel Lobbies for the Obama Girl Vote.” In the video, Gravel tries to persuade her to switch her support from Obama to him. Her response near the end of the video is, “I’ll think about it.”

In late September 2008 Ettinger made a YouTube video with Independent candidate Ralph Nader in which he argues that he should be included in the debates. The video was a spoof of conventional sit-coms and was called “The Obama Girl and Ralph Nader Show.” Also featuring former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura, the video followed what would happen if Obama Girl and Ralph Nader shared an office.

Watch “I Got a Crush on Obama Video | Obama’s Girl Wikipedia

Marina Orlova

At first glance, if you see her pictures on Google Images, you bet she is a veteran pornstar but after reading a bit more of her, she uses that style for her own success. She has her personal website HotForWords.com and her slogan is “Intelligence is sexy”. Moscow Times editorial had written

“Marina exploits her blonde-bombshell looks to the maximum: She appears in her two-minute clips scantily clad, pouting and making doe eyes. This is surely the main factor in her success. However, while the number of scantily clad girls on the Internet is limitless, not all of them put so much intellectual effort into their success”

So whats next? Porn acting career ?

Visit HotForWords Official Website | Watch HotForWords YouTube Channel

Conclusion

Well, if you are reading this you already wished you were a girl (for the boys) and wished you were pretty (for the rest of the girls). In Marina’s case, she has build a strong fans base and whenever she releases a new product, either an e-book or something else, many guys pull out their credit cards and purchase everything related to HotForWords

If Marina is reading this, I would highly suggest you to put some adult affiliate links on your videos … I’m sure you are going to have a 1:5 conversion rate
